BETTY PAWELKIEWICZ

Betty Jane was born on February 20, 1927 and went to be with her God on December 24, 2010, shortly after sunrise, surrounded in the love of her children. She married John Pawelkiewicz at Zion Lutheran Church on May 27, 1947. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Bruce) Frederick, Peggy (Merlin) Harn, and her sons, David (Trudi), Dick (Barbara), John ( Darlene), and Bob (Connie). She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by a brother, Lyle Zoelk. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, Louis and Pearl (nee Hoelzer) Zoelk, as well her brothers Clarence, Daniel, and Sheldon Zoelk, and her sisters Ethel Smarzinski, Mildred Smarzinski, Geraldine Schultz, and two siblings who passed in childhood. She was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Faith Pawelkiewicz. Betty Jane was a passionate Christian woman, who shared her faith with her children. For most of her adult life, since the mid 1950s, she was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Menasha. After the death of her husband, she was a fixture at Daves Burger Shanty in Menasha, and upon retirement , she spent several years as a childcare provider. She loved children, and taught in the St. Timothy Sunday School for many years. She was never shy about sharing her sense of humor or giving you her opinion. She lived her life for her Lord by nurturing her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the numerous children she cared for over the years. The funeral service for Betty will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 437 Seventh St, Menasha Wisconsin on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor David Skarsten will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery. We wish to thank the caregivers at Gardenview, Colony Oaks, and Parkview Health Center. These selfless people all became part of Moms family as she battled Alzheimers. Even at the end, the disease could not take her smile or break her spirit, and now she has been made new in her Lord and Savior. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bettys name to the Alzheimers Association at alz.org or to a memorial fund for the St. Timothy Sunday School.
