February 27, 1932 - December 19, 2009
Obituary
James Hrubecky, age 77, passed away in the arms of his loving family on Saturday evening, December 19, 2009 from complications of Alzheimer s disease. Jim was a lifelong resident of Neenah and will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. Jim was a graduate of Neenah High School, the University of Wisconsin, Madison, a U.S. Army veteran, and a life-long, super-dedicated Green Bay Packers fanatic. After graduation from Madison, Jim joined the team that made Neenah Parks and Recreation flourish. Among the many programs instituted that still bring enjoyment to many residents are the Riverside Players, Neenah Community Band, the purchase of Wilms farm, which is now Southview Park; the purchase of the Swatscheno farm which is now Memorial Park and the Armstrong-Conant High School Campus. Jim is survived by his wife, Judy Yahr, his two children: David (Theresa) Hrubecky, Mishicot, Wisconsin, Margaret Strobel (Todd Check), Rio, Wisconsin; six grandchildren: Alex Hrubecky, Paige Hrubecky, Claire Hrubecky, Maxwell Hrubecky, Megan Strobel, Jessica Fuerst; his siblings: Katharine (Paul) Rojik, Pittsburgh, Fred (Madeline) Hrubecky, Neenah, George Hrubecky (Mary Jessup), Toronto; three brothers-in-law: Judys twin, Gerald Mund, Appleton, Thomas Mund (Patty Brown), and Timothy Mund, Madison; Judys daughters, Susan Yahr (Dave Schulz), and Carrie Schumacher (Cal), and their families, all of Appleton. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Magdalene Hrubecky, and his youngest brother, Thomas Hrubecky. A Celebration of Jims life will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jims name. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Paul McAvoy, Vallhaven Care Center, Valley VNA, Asera Care Hospice, and Theda Clark Medical Center for all their diligent care and kindnesses in James final two years. To my husband: You taught me so much about family values and all the different kinds of love in this world. I am a better person because of you, and I will never forget your beautiful smile. Rest in Peace. Love, Judy

Sending this via email seems cold to me, but since I do not have postal addresses for cards, hopefully this will reach you and let you know how saddened I was to hear of Jim's passing. My prayers are with you all.

DEar Judy and all of the Hrubecky family I send my heartfelt condolences. I have lost my childhood partner in crime. Jim and I had great fun tormenting his siblings and driving Aunt Lena a bit crazy. I so enjoyed Jims' sense of humor as adults and he was a special person in many ways and I loved him. Blessing to all of you and I mourn with you. Cousin Marge

Judy - I don't know if you remember me - I was Diane Wouters at Kimberly-Clark until I married Gene Snyder in 1993. I lost Gene on 7-29-08 due to Alzheimer's, so I am sincerely sending you my sympathy in the loss of Jim. I am so sorry to hear about this, especially at this time of the year. Please take care of yourself and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless - Diane

Dear Hrubecky Family, Please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of your loved one. I will always remember the good times Jim and I had when we were roomates at the University of Wisconsin and the friendship and good working relationship we had at the Neenah Recreation Department. With Deepest Sympathy, Harland Carl
