GERALD NERENHAUSEN

Gerald J. Corky Nerenhausen, age 82, of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Theda Clark Medical Center. Corky was born on October 24, 1927 in Oconto, WI; son of the late Jacob and Mabel (Meyer) Nerenhausen. Upon graduation from high school, Corky joined the Navy and served his country during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1948. On January 19, 1952, Corky married Nancy R. Doane at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah; they celebrated 57 wonderful years together. Corky was employed with the Marathon Company for over 40 years. He retired from the Georgia Pacific Company in 1993. During his retirement, he worked for WalMart for 8 years and was a volunteer at Theda Clark Medical Center where he drove the shuttle bus/Theda Care van. Corky was a member of the American Legion Menasha, Post 152. He was very active in the Boys & Girls Brigade for 43 years, went to Camp Onaway annually and was involved with the rough craftsmen. Corky was a member of Calvary Bible Church and active with the youth group and throughout the congregation. He was passionate about traveling, camping, bowling, golf, boys sports and was a Little League Coach in Menasha. He truly loved all sports and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. Corky is survived by his wife, Nancy, Neenah; 3 daughters: Laura Kloeckner, Missouri, Malee Nerenhausen, California, Nina (Cande) Pena, California; 2 sons: Keith (Carole) Nerenhausen, Little Chute, Todd Nerenhausen, Florida; 5 grandchildren: Jessica, Emily, Kayla, Rachel and Hannah; 3 great-grandchildren: Alex, Christina and Emmalee; a sister Lydia Sewall, Oconto; and 2 brothers: James (Shirley) Nerenhausen, Oshkosh, Peter (Elin) Nerenhausen, Oconto. He was preceded in death by his brother, Grant. The Memorial Service for Corky will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, 7:00 PM, at Calvary Bible Church, Neenah, with Mr. Bruce Levenhagen speaking about Corkys life. Family and friends will be received at the church on Friday from 4:00 PM until the hour of the service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Corkys honor.
