SHIRLEY BOLLINGER

Shirley Bollinger, 69, formerly of Spring Grove, PA died Saturday, November 5 after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. She was born October 2, 1942 in Hanover, PA, daughter to the late Charles and Dolores Wagner. She married her high school sweetheart in 1963 and dedicated herself to raising her children. After her children entered school, she began working at ESAB Welding and Cutting Products in 1977 and continued there until her retirement in 2000. In 1978, while working and raising children, she began going to York College part time and graduated Magna Cum Laude receiving a BSBA with a dual major of Marketing and Management in 1986. She was very active in the professional technical association, American Welding Society (AWS). She actively volunteered at the Section and District levels rising to the National Board of Directors and eventually to National President. To this date, she is the only woman to ever hold this position and a college scholarship in her name has been established through the AWS Foundation. Throughout her life she was extremely active in volunteer activities in the community dedicating herself to making a difference in peoples lives and in this world. Among her numerous contributions are Girl Scout Leader, Womans Club, Thrift Shop, Library Board, Hanover Hotline and Junior Achievement. She was also very active at St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Council Member and Altar Guild Leader. She is survived by her children, Ronald (Paula) Bollinger II of Spring Grove and Kristin (Joe) Oyler of Neenah, WI and grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Bollinger and Daniel and David Oyler. She is further survived by a brother, Butch Wagner of Morrow, OH, a sister, Darlene Miner of Hanover, PA and her former husband Ron Bollinger of York. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Bill Wagner and Terry Wagner. LeJeune Rd., Miami FL 33126. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Neenah. Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her scholarship AWS Foundation " Shirley Bollinger Scholarship, 550 N. W. LeJeune Rd., Miami SL 33126. The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice, Colony Oaks Care Center and the Valley VNA for their care. A memorial service will be planned for Spring Grove, PA at a date to be determined.
