WILBERT LAU

Wilbert L. Lau, of Neenah, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2011. He was born May 1, 1924 in Reedsville, son of the late Theodore and Elsie (Reimer) Lau. Willy married Henriette Flenz on October 16, 1948. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2008. Willy served his country in the US Army during WWII, being stationed in the Philippines. He retired from American Can after 40 years of employment. He loved woodworking, making Caramel corn and popcorn balls, and especially spending time with his family. Willy was an active longtime member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church of Neenah where he served as an usher and as President of the Church Council. Survivors include four brothers and sisters: Mernebelle Behnke, Se Vera Lau, Waldemar Lau and Violet (Jerry) Havel; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews, including great nephew, Willy Thomas Brucks. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Elroy and Wallace; and two sisters: Evelyn and Alice. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 1390 Breezewood Lane, Neenah, with The Rev. Richard Frost officiating. The visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Full military rites will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for the church.
