ROBERT ROST

Robert L. Bob Rost, of Neenah, age 84, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011. He was born July 23, 1927 in Kingsford, MI, son of the late Rudolph and Carol (Grady) Rost. Bob graduated from Kingsford High School in Kingsford, MI, in 1945, where he excelled in football. He served in the US Army as a Tech Sgt during WWII and was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany as part of the occupying force. Bob married Marjorie Jean Gorrel on August 11, 1950 in Neenah. She preceded him in death on June 29, 2011. Bob was employed with Kimberly Clark at the Lakeview Mill in 1947 until his retirement in 1988. He served as the Union Steward during that time. Bob enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and he rode a G1 overhead 1947 Harley. He was a charter member of St. Marks Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Twin City Rod and Gun club and the Drifters Snowmobile Club. Survivors include his four children: Carole (Lee) Diehl, Bill (Mary) Rost, Shelly (Joseph) Lingnofski, Rick (Ashley) Rost; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Eleanor (Eddie) Layden, Shirley (Preston) Spencer. He was preceded in death by a cousin, Joan Vandehey. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011 at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 140 S. Green Bay Rd., Neenah, with The Rev. Stephen Dietzler officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial is being established in his name.
