Obituary
Thomas F. Derouin, age 63 of Menasha, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home. He was born July 15, 1947 to the late Francis and Mary Ann (Allcox) Derouin in Green Bay, WI. On May 30, 1970 he married Erlinda Ybarra. Tom was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Air Force and being stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Vietnam Vets of America, chapter 335 and could be seen in many Memorial Day parades proudly letting his American colors fly. He was also very involved in his community, having served on the Police and Fire Commission for 10 years, as well as the Personnel Committee in the City of Menasha. He was also an Alderman for the city in past years. Most recently, Tom was known by many children in the area as Mr. Tom, the beloved custodian at Clovis Grove Elementary. Tom is survived by his wife, Linda; three children: Julie (Jason) Dionne; Aimee (Al) John; and Tommy Derouin; grandchildren: Samuel and Sophia Dionne; and Taja, Lailah; and Xavier John. He is further survived by his siblings: Jean (Clay) Quick; Jim (Liz) Derouin; Patti (John) Calder; Marge (Jim) Sell; Helen (Tony) Springer; many nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held for Tom on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Menashas Westgor Funeral Home, Mary Krueger officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Toms name.

i will always remember the first time meeting mr. derouin. i was a little intimidated but after talking for just a few minutes, i could see just how big his heart was. he helped me out whenever i was having problems. i will always remember his ever growing beard and laugh. i was good friends with his son, tommy. i hope you read this and know that i am thinking of you and your family. rest in peace.

We always enjoyed performing with Tom in the theater. He was funny, kind, and a great guy. Our prayers and thoughts are with Linda and his family.

Tom and I attended St John Elementary School together and were very close in during that time. He and I were both in the service about the same time. I have not seen Tom since the days my ex-wife played softball in the twin-city's. R.I.P TOM. The world will be a sadder place without you.

I've known Tom for many years through the years that my daughters spent at Clovis Grove. Tom always took time out of his day when I'd stop by school to chat with me, check on the girls, or give me an update on a converstion he may have had with one of them. Long after the girls had left Clovis, Mr. Tom always recognized me and the girls when we'd be around town. I was saddened to hear that Tom's health was failing and of his passing. Family, know that Tom was loved by many children and parents throughout his years in Menasha. Find comfort in the memories you have of him, keep the love for him in your hearts, and find strength in the difficult days to come.
