GLENETTE JOHNSON

Glenette Johnson, age 87, went home to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, December 30, 2022, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah. Glenette Ingeborg Brown was born in Laramie, WY, on June 14, 1935, daughter of the late Glen and Helen Brown. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Wheatland High School in Wheatland, WY.

Glenette played percussion in high school and was very active in 4-H, raising and showing beef cattle. She attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie and continued playing percussion in the University concert band, marching band, orchestra and a recording band. Glenette was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She graduated from the Electronic Radio & Television Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. Glenette worked in Denver, Colorado, for Merrill Lynch Stock Brokerage Firm until she met and married Carl W. Johnson on October 2, 1955, in Wheatland, WY. She and Carl lived in Boulder, CO, where Carl was attending college and Glenette worked for the University of Colorado Museum and for the Director of Student Activities.

Glenette loved music and played percussion for over 50 years. She was a member of the National Assoc. of Rudimental Drummers, played in the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, and gave lessons and drum clinics before moving to Neenah. Upon moving to Neenah, she played in several community bands. Glenette played in the Neenah Community Band for 25 years, and also gave drum lessons and took piano lessons for several years.

Glenette and Carl had two children: Phillip and Jilene “Jill”. They lived in Boulder while Carl worked and eventually started his own business. Then they moved to Littleton, CO, for a year before moving to Neenah in 1967.

Glenette's greatest interest has been serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in her church, Calvary Bible Church, in Neenah, where she's been a member since 1968. She has served in a variety of capacities as a Sunday School teacher for over 25 years, as a deaconess, singing in the church choir, the Living Christmas Tree the first few years, and playing in her church orchestra. Glenette enjoyed her relationship with Jesus Christ, her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, music – especially percussion and piano, knitting, crocheting and reading.

She has also been active over the years in the Christian Women's Club, serving as chairman in the Appleton and Neenah Clubs, and also as an Area Representative for the Neenah, Waupaca and Shawano Clubs. Glenette also led Bible Studies and attended several at her church.

Glenette helped her husband in their business with secretarial work. She also is a past member of the Theda Clark Hospital Auxiliary and the Meals on Wheels program.

Survivors include children: Phillip (Carol) Johnson, New London, Jilene (Larry) Beyer, Neenah; six grandchildren: Alex (Cara) Beyer, Benjamin (Marissa) Beyer, Nicholas (Meghan) Beyer, Natalie (Perry) Murphy, Lucas Johnson and Jessica (Eric) Dome.

Glenette was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; grandson, Levi Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Florence Tieszen.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am at Calvary Bible Church, 1450 Oakridge Rd, Neenah, on, Thursday, January 12, 2023. Visitation will be at the church from 10:30 am until the hour of service. Please use the west parking lot to enter the Fellowship Center. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Bible Church for the Church Orchestra or Praise Band, for instruments of music.
