JOYCE PINGEL

Pingel, Joyce E., age 51, of Menasha, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009, at her home after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Joyce was born January 23, 1958, in Reno, Nevada, the daughter of Alvena Buff, Reno, and the late Roland Buff, and is a member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. Following high school, Joyce met Lyle E. Pingel, Jr., who was serving in the Air Force in Nevada, and they were united in marriage on July 30, 1977, in Las Vegas. Joyce and Lyle came to Wisconsin with their first child Jessica in October of 1978. Joyce was a paper carrier for the Appleton Post-Crescent and USA Today. Her routes included Greenville and Menasha, and she really enjoyed visiting with her customers (and their pets) while working. Some of her customers would give her plants that she would bring home and plant in their yard. Joyce loved to stop at an occasional rummage sale, and she enjoyed dancing, bingo, gardening, movies, and Sundays fishing with Lyle on numerous lakes in northern Wisconsin, especially Wabikon Lake. Joyce also looked forward to her and Lyles yearly vacation to Eagle River in October. This years vacation was a special accomplished goal of Joyce during her illness. Lyle and Joyce also attended the Oneida Powwow every year. Survivors include her husband, Lyle, Jr.; her mother, Alvena; her daughter, Jessica Coleman, Menasha, her son, Joshua Pingel, Appleton; four grandchildren: Dominic Pingel, Donte Pingel, Trinity Hoffman, and Braedon Pingel; her brothers, Erwin (Lisa) Buff and Everett Buff, California, Andrew Karlen, New Jersey, and half brother, James; her mother and father-in-law, Lyle, Sr. and Etola Pingel, Waupaca; sisters-in-law, Linda Pingel and LaDonna Pingel, Shiocton, and Laureen Plank, Neenah; brothers-in-law, Loren (Vicki) Pingel, Pine River, and Lane Pingel (special friend, Renee), Fremont. Joyce was preceded in death by a sister, Dahlia, brother, Marvin, and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Pingel. The Memorial Service for Joyce will be Thursday, November 19, 2009, 6:00 p.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Holte officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joyces honor may be sent to the Martha Siekman Cancer Center, Navigation Fund, 1818 No. Meade St., Appleton, 54911. The family wishes to thank all the AMC nurses and doctors on the Third Floor cancer unit, the AMC ICU, Martha Siekman Cancer Center and ThedaCare at Home for their care of Joyce.
