Obituary

Lyle Hanson, 82, of Neenah, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, surrounded by his family at Theda Clark Medical Center. Lyle was born September 18, 1928, in Navarino, the son of Torval and Linda (Christiansen) Hanson. Lyle proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Fern D. Mosher and they cherished 60 years together. Lyle was employed with Kimberly-Clark Corp. prior to his retirement. Lyle was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher. He worked the director control board of Time-Warner Senior Showcase. Lyle was also a member of the EAA and loved airplanes. He loved the outdoors, hunting, traveling, and was a huge Packer fan. Lyle was privileged to be among the survivors of the Brotherhood of the Army Chosin Few serving at the Chosin Reservoir, member of the DAV in Oshkosh, the V.F.W. Post in Appleton, and the American Legion in Neenah. He and Fern made many trips to different military reunions every year. He was a wonderful husband and father. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Fern; a daughter, Shelia (Roger) Neubauer, Pickett; a son, Lyle, Jr. (Barbara) Hanson, Town of Menasha; two grandchildren, Gina (Matthew) Lingnofski and Derrick (Jennifer) Hanson; three great-grandchildren: Audrey, Claire, and Tyler Lingnofski; a sister, Shirley (Gerald) Cornelius, Shawano; a brother, William (Karen) Hanson, Appleton; a sister-in-law Jeanne Hanson, Neenah; numerous nieces and nephews; his weekend daughter, Laurie Varney; very special couple friends, Allen (Sally) Merrill and Milford (Joan) Herreid; card playing friends, Dorice and Marie; and all the folks in their neighborhood(s). He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Torval, Jr., Emil, Lloyd, Palmer, Donald, and Robert; and sisters: Doris, Thelma, Nester, Carol, Leona, and Betty. The Funeral Service for Lyle will be Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church with Revs. Tony Fuller and Jeff McGregor officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Entombment with military honors will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
