WARREN HIRTE

A good man who played a special part in the lives of many people left us Saturday, May 7, 2011. Warren A. Hirte passed away unexpectedly at home. Warren was born June 16, 1934 to Edith and Marvin Hirte in Neenah. Warren attended schools in Menasha and graduated from Menasha High School and then enlisted in the Navy. He served proudly from 1953-1961 and then returned to the Fox River Valley. In 1967 he joined the Neenah Police Force. He enjoyed and excelled at his job, was the type of Cop that enforced the law, but was willing to help people when he could. In 1994 he won the Top Cop award. He told his friends he didnt know why he was the Top , but was proud that his peers awarded him the honor. He was a man of many talents and interests, enjoying his time fishing, hunting, playing cards with his many friends. Warren especially looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Lake Erie with his fishing cronies , did they catch any fish?.who knows, but they had a great time. Mary and Warren enjoyed their weekly Friday Night Fish Fries with their circle of friends, lots of love and fun. Warrens family was a special part of his life and he spent many wonderful hours with them, being a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfatheralways there for them when they needed him. Family events had a special place in his heart, many events, much happiness and love. Another loved adventure was his time spent helping at the Bear Creek tree farm at Christmas time, especially when his granddaughter Stacie joined him in the fun. Special Olympics also had a place in Warrens heart, volunteering and being supportive to help them. Warren is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary and his children Jean (Bill) Reinherdt, Neenah, Jerry (Marcia) Engel, New London, Christine (Peter) Pomrening, Neenah, Kathy (Jeff) Coenen, Pickerel, Jim (Susan) Higgins, Las Vegas, Denise (Vince) Garcia, Tampa, FL, Mike (Mary) Higgins, Neenah, and Margie Higgins, Menasha. He was blessed with grandchildren: Steven Gasper, Bryant Gasper, Kelly Uecker, Jaime Engel, Jade Engel, Nicholas Ihde, Jessica Pomrening, and Stacie Pomrening. Great Grandchildren also survive: Kinley, Hailey, Morgan and Samual. Warren was proceeded by his folks Edith and Marvin Hirte and stepson Jon Engel. The Memorial Service for Warren will be Wednesday, May 11, 2011, 6:30 p.m., at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Huff officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday until the hour of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Warrens honor may be sent to the Boys & Girls Brigade or Special Olympics.
