PHILLIP SCHANKE

Phillip W. Schanke, age 95 of Neenah, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was born November 4, 1916, to the late William and Marie (Koepke) Schanke. On December 14, 1937, he married Martha Klein, who preceded him in death April 12, 2006. Phil was a proud Free Mason, having acquired many honors throughout his Masonic career. He was a Knight of the York Cross of Honor as well as of the Royal Purple Degree. In the Valley of Eau Claire, he was noticed as a 32nd Degree Mason and was an Honorary Member of the Beja Shrine in Green Bay. He is also a Past Worthy Grand Patron of the OES of the State of Wisconsin and a Past Association Grand Guardian of the Order of Jobs Daughters of Wisconsin. He was also a part of several other affiliated masonic orders. Phil is survived by daughters: Carol (Larry) Rider, Neenah; Judith (Charles) Berard, Rothschild; and Diane (Glenn) Moberg, Mosinee; grandchildren: Jay (Pamela) Olson; Jodi Wooding; Jeff (Jeanne) Olson; Dean (Deb) Bryan; Beth (Jeff) Belott; Dan Berard; Kris Berard; and Lindsay (Mike) Hafner; great-grandchildren: Stephanie and Benjamin Olson; Emma (Justin) Thurm; Phil Wooding; Rachel (Caleb) Scott; Andrew and Matthew Olson; Megan (Kenny) Feltz; Josh Michelson; Claire Bryan; Alex Lehr; and Elaine (Christopher) Futch; Nick and Rachelle Belott; as well as great-great-grandchildren: Austin and Elli Feltz; Noah Michelson; and Brooklynn and Julian Thurm. A memorial service for Phil will be held Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Rev. Tabitha Gallatin officiating. Visitation will be at church from 9:00 A.M until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Phils name. The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Valley VNA and ThedaCare at Home Hospice, as well as Dr. Raj, for their care and compassion over Phil.
