February 02, 1942 - November 08, 2010

Obituary

Raymond E. Kohler, age 68 of Larsen, passed away after a short but courageous battle with cancer on Monday, November 8, 2010. He was born February 2, 1942 to the late Eunice (Menard) and Edward Kohler, Sr. On October 23, 1965 he married Sally Kernin. Ray will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a great sense of humor. While his hobby was building steam engines, his greatest passion was his family. He grew up in Dogtown and graduated from Menasha High School. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served as a C-133 Loadmaster from 1960-1964. Ray retired as a machinist from Kimberly-Clark in 2000, but continued to work part-time at Specialty Machine where he met his great friend Noel. Ray is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sally; his two sons: Paul (Cindy) Kohler and Stephen (Wendi) Kohler; and grandchildren: Adam, John, Mackenzie, and Brooke. He is further survived by his brother Edward (Donna) Kohler, Jr., sister-in-law Karen (Lyle) Crotteau, numerous loving aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Shirley (Buzz) Houg and Mary (Richard) Swoboda. A memorial service for Ray will be held Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Winchester, Rev. Dan Luett officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Winchester. Rays family would like to extend a warm thank you to Theda Clark and Appleton Medical Center, especially his nurses Pam, Ryan, and Alicia, for their wonderful care.

Paul and family We are so sorry for your loss. We hope that this poem can bring you some sort of comfort. When someone you love with all your heart and soul passes away they go to what is called the Rainbow Bridge. They are as healthy and happy as we remember them in days gone by: happy and at peace. Together with friends and others the day comes when into the distancesuddenly you two will see each other and embrace once again. You celebrate in joyous reunion-you will never again separate. Happy tears and kisses are warm and plentiful, your hands hug the man you missed. You look into each others loving eyes and know that though out of sight your love had been remembered. You cross the Rainbow Bridge togetherforeverwith God! With our deepest sympathy, Nick, Debbie, and Ashley Anderson

Sally, we were very sorry to hear of the passing of Ray. He always had a great smile and a positive attitude on life. I am sure God has made room for him in steam engine heaven. We will all miss Ray
