GLENN BURT

Glenn F. Burt, of Neenah, age 91, passed away Monday, December 6, 2010 at Vallhaven Care Center. He was born May 31, 1919 in the Town of Lawrence, son of the late Robert and Ethel (McDonald) Burt. Glenn served in the US Army during WWII where he was stationed in Europe where he was a supply truck driver. He was in Germany, France and Belgium and often talked about the wonderful people and beautiful countryside. Glenn married Eileen Heckner on June 28, 1940 in Neenah, and they had 62 wonderful years together until her passing in 2002. Glenn retired from American Can after 37 years of fun on a great job. He loved to tell stories about his boyhood and his shenanigans with his cousins and growing up at Guardian Angel boarding school with his pals. All in all he had a good life. Glenn always said he never met anyone he didnt like and he was everyones friend. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Neenah. Survivors include his daughter, Gail Henke; a grandson, Jeffrey (Meg) Henke; two great-grandchildren: David Henke, Rachel Henke; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Dorothy Alcox; his phone friend, Dorothy Breaker; and friends, Roger and Alvina Bram; friends from St. Gabriels; his wonderful neighbors and his loving lap dog, Buddy. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mame; two brothers: Robert Burt, Russell Burt; two brothers-in-law, Charles Heckner and Clyde Voster; and two sisters-in-law; Janice Voster and Lois Heckner. The memorial service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be in St. Margarets Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff of Vallhaven Care Center and Theda Care Hospice for their wonderful care. Dad, Ill miss nagging you to get up every morning and making your breakfast every day. Then our chats in our chairs after lunch while Buddy napped in your lap. You were the best dad any girl could ask for and I always did and always will love you so very much. Thanks for being my Dad.
