JOSEPH LACHAPELL

Joseph F. Lachapell, age 82 of Menasha, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010. He was born September 12, 1928 to the late Joseph and Lillian (Vandueszen) Lachapell in Armstrong Creek, WI. On November 3, 1952 he married Hilda Krisch. Joe was a hardworking man, having quit school to join the Merchant Marines. After four years in the Marine Corps, he worked for 30 years at Taylor, MI and then the Menasha Post Office. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed playing cards, watching the Packer games and wrestling matches. Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hilda; five children: Robert (Ruth); David (Mary); Alan (special friend Kristen Lugger); Kathy (Walter) Rush; and JoAnn (Dan) Schmitzer; grandchildren: Dan Lachapell; Dana (Shane) Buffington; Scott Lachapell; Becki (Billy) Hahnen; Jeff Lachapell; Mark Lachapell; Crystal (special friend Andrew) VanderLoop; Joseph VanderLoop; Khyleigh Schmitzer; great-grandchildren: Westley and Wyatt Hahnen; Jack Lachapell. He is further survived by step-granchildren: Jessica Ellenbecker; Sara (Travis) Gerrits; Adam Ellenbecker; Brandy VandenBloomer; step-great-grandchildren Camille Gerrits; Juliana Hahnen; many nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Frank (Marian) Krisch. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Arthur, Raymond, Lawrence, and Edmund Lachapell; Irene Engel; Martha Blixt; and Agnes Lachapell; sister-in-law Anne (William) Kuehl; and brothers-in-law Peter, Henry, and Robert Krisch. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 17, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, Menasha, Father Larry Canovera officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Joes name.
