RUTH HARNITZ

Ruth M. Harnitz, age 88, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 30, 2012 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Appleton. She was born on November 18, 1923 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Forbes) Doemel. On May 6, 1961 she married Dale Dutch Harnitz. The marriage was blessed with two daughters and fifteen years before Dutch preceded her in death on January 21, 1977. She was employed by Oshkosh Wood and Coal, and also by Cerebral Palsy of Mideast Wisconsin. She was a life member of the Winnebago Unit Marine Corps League Auxiliary, the Ray Fuller Chapter of the DAV Auxiliary, and a life-long member of St. Paul U.C.C. in Oshkosh. She also volunteered for many years for Cerebral Palsy of Mideast Wisconsin. In her free time she loved needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, spending time with her family, and time spent outdoors. Ruth was a strong, determined, generous woman who will be greatly missed by her daughters, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, and her sister. She is survived by her daugthers: Lori (Skeeter) Gruse, Appleton, Lynnae (Dan) Sievert, Appleton; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; her sister, Jeanette Kennedy; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Lucille (Alex) Lesperance, Dorothy George; brother-in-law, George Kennedy; aunt and uncle: Emma and Rudolph Dick Ziegenhagen. The Funeral service for Ruth will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. RaeAnn Beebe officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. A Marine Corp League Auxiliary Memorial service will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. A special thank you to all the staff at Rennes Health and Rehab Center and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for all the special care they gave our mother and the support they gave to the family.
