NORMAN PAGEL

Norman C. Pagel, age 89, of Neenah, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born in West Bloomfield on October 19, 1922, the son of Richard and Olga Wilke. He was united in marriage to Burnette L. Fahser on September 13, 1947, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Manawa, and after their marriage were life-long residents of Neenah and members of Trinity Lutheran Church of Menasha. Norman proudly served his country in World War II being a combat duty soldier in the U.S. Army stationed in the South Pacific for over three years. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star, five overseas Service Bars, Asr Score 68 Lapel Button issued (2 Sept 45), Inactive ERC from 14 Dec 42 to 21 Dec 42, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal 45, and Spearhead in the Netherlands West Indies. He worked at Menasha Corp. for 38 years prior to his retirement. Norman enjoyed putting electronics together (Heath Kits), walking, and was a big Packers fan. He volunteered at Hearthside Meal Site for twelve years. The Pagels always enjoyed winters they spent in Texas, Arizona, and Florida. Survivors include his wife, Burnette Pagel, Neenah; his son, Van C. (Nancy) Pagel, Waupaca; four grandchildren: Tara Theisen, Nylee (Matthew) Osborn, Nicholas Pagel, and Clyde Pagel; four great-grandchildren: Jacob and Gabriel Theisen, Korbin Dvorak, and Leylah Osborn; a brother, Carl (Nancy) Baehnman, Appleton; three sisters: Vera Schwalbach, Darboy, Vilda Wilke, Weyauwega, and Carole Dugdale, San Diego, CA; and three half-brothers: Paul (Marsha) Brush, Oshkosh, and Pat (Kay) Brush and Ted (Darlene) Brush, all of New London; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Olga Wilke; his adoptive parents, Martin and Anna Pagel; his son, Clyde Pagel; four sisters: Viola Roberts, Anita Lemke, Milla Zempel, and Lucille Stolzman; and a great-granddaughter, Kate Theisen. The Funeral Service for Norman will be Thursday, September 6, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Menasha, with Rev. Steven Billings officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, and again from 10:00 a.m Thursday until the hour of the service at the church. Interment with military honors will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
