IRMA BORCHERT

Irma A. (Strey) Borchert, age 97, was called home by her Heavenly Father on September 4, 2012. Irma was born in Dale, Wisconsin to the late John and Emma (Prellwitz) Strey on February 19, 1915. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dale and confirmed and married at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield, Wisconsin. On June 22, 1933 she married Walter Borchert. They shared 59 wonderful years together until Walters death on September 15, 1992. They both enjoyed gardening and always had plenty of fresh vegetables to share. Irma enjoyed canning produce, sewing, quilting, and going fishing with Walter and Myron. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and prayed for them that they would all remain close to their Savior, Jesus Christ. They will remember Grandma for her cheerful disposition, her delicious meals, and the best chocolate chip cookies. Irma is survived by her daughter, Emily (Dan) Rau; daughter-in-law, Karen Borchert-Manteufel (Robert Manteufel); 7 grandchildren: Dan Borchert, Mashelle (Kevin) Ozment, Tom (Lisa) Borchert, Deborah (Shawn) Kienert, Rev. David (Jennifer) Rau, Robert (Christine) Rau, and Lisa Rau. There are nine great grandchildren: John Borchert, Susan (Matthew) Delaney, Amanda Hollon, Brianna, Kayley, and Emma Rau, Tristan and Carson Rau, and Logan Kienert, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to Walter, her parents, and her step-father, Henry Schuelke, Irma was preceded in death by a son, Myron Borchert, a daughter, Ellamae Borchert, six brothers and sisters-in-law: Clarence (Erna) Strey, Marvin (Irene) Strey, Edwin (Leona) Schuelke, Clarence (Lucille) Schuelke, Gerhardt (Marie) Schuelke, and Elmer (Laverne) Schuelke, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Edna (Elmer) Bartel and Estella (Ervin) Baehman. Irma was a faithful member of Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church for over 60 years. The Christian Funeral Service for Irma will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Jason Oakland and Rev. Richard I. Krahn II officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Clayton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Martin Luther Church and for Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
