Obituary

James Frederick Clapper, age 71, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 27, 2012 at Cherry Meadows Hospice Center with loved ones at his side. He was born on May 19, 1941 in Ottawa, Illinois, son of the late William and Helen (Salmon) Clapper. After high school Jim earned a football scholarship to Iowa State University where he played linebacker and was a team captain. On June 14, 1991 he married the love of his life, Susan Barnes, in Neenah, Wisconsin. Jim was a well-respected furniture designer and maker, and later business owner when he started Pinecraft Log Homes, Inc. He will be sadly missed as a beloved husband, proud father, adored brother and grandfather, and a fiercely loyal friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; sons: Gregg (Laura) Clapper, Las Flores, CA, Trent Clapper, Lake Forest, CA; step-son, Steven (Mary Beth) Barnes, Neenah; step-daughter, Paula (Bryan) Hacker, Appleton; grandchildren: Garrett and Troy Clapper, Jake and Luke Clapper, Haley, Alyssa, and Addison Barnes, Dallas, Caitlin, and Carson Hacker; brother, Ken (Marsha) Clapper, Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Victoria Clapper-Bastien, IL; mother-in-law, Theo Grupe, Neenah; 2 nieces and one nephew: Karen Rabideau, Arizona, Tim Clapper, Manitowoc, Megan Clapper, Baton Rouge, LA. The Funeral Service for Jim will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in the Allenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Jims name to Cherry Meadows Hospice Center.

I'm sadden to hear of Jim passing. Jim gave 100 percent of himself and he touched and inspired so many of us. He will not be forgotten.

Jim was a graduating classmate of mine, OHS Class of 1959, he was always well liked by the guys and gals. Too fast the years go by, and too often we fail to say the words we should, while we can. The world will miss you, and all you had to offer Jim. My sympathy to you wife and family.
