CLARENCE METZGER

Clarence E. Metzger, age 87, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 4, 2012 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. He was born on January 28, 1925 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, son of the late Henry and Selma (Meier) Metzger. After high school, Clarence proudly served his country with the U.S. Army with the 11th Airborne Division. He attended classes at Milwaukee School of Engineering for two years. Clarence moved to Menasha in 1951 where he worked for the United States Postal Service for 28 years. On May 12, 1956 he married Elsibay G. Zarnoth at First United Methodist Church in Neenah. The union was blessed with one daughter, one son, and nearly 53 years before she preceded him in death on April 24, 2009. Clarence was a Member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2126, the Methodist Asbury Club, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He will be sadly missed by his children: Sharon (Jim) Skelton, Saukville, Randy Metzger, Appleton; grandchildren: Amanda (Mike) Cain, Michele Skelton, Ryan (Holly) Skelton; great grandchildren: Gavin Cain, Wesley Skelton; brother, Robert Metzger, Blaine, MN; sister-in-law, Janet Metzger, Ladysmith, WI; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, and his beloved wife, Elsibay, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Metzger, and a sister-in-law, Beverly Metzger. The Funeral Service for Clarence will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church (108 W. Doty Ave.) with Rev. Tony Fuller officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Clarence will be laid to rest next to his wife at Greenlawn Memorial Park where full military honors will be performed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Clarences name can be made to Diabetes Research or to Disabled and Paralyzed Veterans.
