THOMAS HANSON

Hanson, Thomas R. Menasha Thomas R. Hanson, age 69, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his home. He was born on October 31, 1941 at Theda Clark Hospital, son of the late Frederick and Loretta (Zeininger) Hanson. He graduated from St. Mary High School, class of 1960. Tom joined the Army National Guard and after basic training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, he attended Medical School at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. After the schooling he was called into active duty with the 32nd Division Headquarters Unit to Ft. Lewis, Washington. This duty was for the Berlin Crisis. He spent one year working in a medical dispensary. He was released from active duty after one year. He returned to the National Guard 32nd Division and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sgt. E-5. Tom worked most of his employment years in management at Neenah Foundry Co. and retired in 1989 at the age of 47. On November 8, 1990 he had a life-threatening heart attack, and has had bouts with medical problems ever since. Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing his entire life. Tom is survived by to sisters-in-law, Audre and Darlene Hanson; 8 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick, in 1986 and by his mother, Loretta on September 8, 2008. His mother lived until she was 102 years. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Roy and Eugene Hanson. Memorial Mass for Tom will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church with Father Tony Ibekwe officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass. Interment will take place alongside his parents at St. Marys Cemetery in Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Toms name. The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice and Toms caretaker, Dorothy Callaway for all of their loving care and compassion.
