Obituary
Susan McCarthy Hess, age 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2009 at her home with her family by her side. She was born August 29, 1940 in Neenah, daughter of the late Harmon and Helen (McNicholas) McCarthy. She married Richard L. Hess on August 25, 1962 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Neenah. Susan was a Neenah resident most of her life and was a 1958 graduate of St. Marys High School. She was Vice President and co-founder of RL Hess Company Inc., a paper distributing company. Susan is survived by her husband Richard, three daughters: Paige Ann Hess, Gretchen H. (Mark) Diegel, Kristin S. (Shawn) Zagrodnik; five grandsons: Cody K., Joshua R., Zachary K., Drake H., and Dain M.; a brother Pat (Kathy) McCarthy of Appleton; a sister Ann Pakalski (Al) Michaels of Oconomowoc; and nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass for Susan will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah, with Father Richard Allen officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. until the hour of service at church. Interment will be in St. Margarets Cemetery, Neenah. A memorial fund has been established in Susans name. Mom, to count our blessings would take too long. To try to thank you for all you have done and who you are just isnt possible. For you have made us into who we are. We owe our lives and our happiness to the foundation you gave us. All hoping to be half the woman you are. Our pledge to you is that we will try to instill that same foundation in our children.
