ROBERT THOMPSON

Robert "Bob" Louis Thompson, age 69, of Neenah, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at his home. Bob was born September 30, 1939 to Louis and Edith (Collins) Thompson, Neenah. He married Karen Koch on July 7, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. After 40 years at P.H. Glatfelter (formerly Bergstrom Paper) Bob retired as a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor. He enjoyed fishing (especially at his cottage in Birchwood, WI), woodworking, camping, baseball, birds, and spending time with his grandchildren. Most of all, he loved the Lord. Bob spent many years teaching confirmation, leading youth groups, presenting children's sermons and participating in many church activities. He never hesitated to give or do whatever was needed to help others. Bob is survived by his wife Karen of 46 years; his daughter LuAnn (Paul) Gorecki and their daughter Kimberly, Neenah; his son William (Carrie) Thompson and their children Louis and Emily, Kaukauna; his brother-in-law, Rev. Jack (Christy) Koch, Pine City, MN, and their children, Dr. Jason (Heather) Koch and Kate Koch. Robert was preceded in death by his parents. The Christian Funeral for Bob will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 140 South Green Bay Road, with Rev. Steven Dietzler officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bob's honor.
