LAVERNE DORN

LaVerne A. Dorn, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Peabody Manor. She was born March 4, 1923, the only daughter of the late Arwin and Frieda Schulz. She was raised in Hilbert and later moved to the Appleton area. LaVerne married Roland Dorn; he preceded her in death. She was employed with Nestl (formally Calumet Cheese) as a bookkeeper until her retirement. LaVerne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She would always have a smile on her face when asked about what puzzle she was currently working on. She had become the resident puzzle master at Peabody Manor. The family would also like to offer a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Peabody Manor for all of their hard work in caring for La Verne over the years. Survivors include a son-in-law, Ken Nelson; and two grandchildren: Jordan and Trevor Nelson. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Gloria Nelson; and a brother, Alvin Schulz. The funeral service will be held at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Prewitt officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:30 " 7:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
