MARY MICHALKIEWICZ

Mary Jane Michalkiewicz, of Neenah, age 92, died at Peabody Manor " Birch Cottage on Thursday, September 2, 2010, after a lengthy illness. She was born on March 25, 1918 in Neenah, daughter of the late Clarence Peter and Myra Belle Hesselman. Jane resided in Neenah all of her life. She married Sylvester Michalkiewicz on April 3, 1964 at the First Presbyterian Church in Neenah. Jane graduated from Neenah High School in 1936 and worked as an Executive Secretary retiring from Presto Products on October 5, 1988. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and Deacon. She was a church school teacher, and she also taught English as a second language classes and Happy Friends class. Jane was active in Presbyterian Women and Agape Circle and served on the funeral committee for many years. Jane was a charter member of Altrusa Club of Neenah-Menasha, a service organization for professional women and women holding executive positions in business. She served as the organizations president and was active for 20 years in its many service projects to the community. She was voted Worker of the Month in 1961, and also received an Outstanding Senior Citizen Service Award from Kiwanis Club in 1999. Jane also volunteered as a docent at the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum working in the gift shop. She enjoyed learning about the collections and meeting the people who came there. She was also active in Tuesday Club, Menasha Club and Stage Frights. Jane liked cooking and entertaining, family gatherings, dancing and traveling. She was always happy to help family and friends in any way she could, especially sharing food and baked goods. Jane is survived by her husband, Sylvester; a brother, Harland (Elma) Hesselman; a sister, Suzanne (James) Lenz; two sisters-in-law, Marie (Joe) Michalkiewicz and Bernice Vogt. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews and their children, all whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Ella Ruth Hesselman; a brother, Donald Breezy Hesselman; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and William Haselow; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A memorial service honoring Janes life will be held Friday, September 10, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Neenah. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Memorial gifts may be given to the First Presbyterian Church in Janes name. The family appreciates very much and thanks the staff of Cherry Meadows Hospice and Birch Cottage for the love and kindness given to Jane the years she was there
