RALPH HORNES

Ralph E. Hornes, age 74, of Menasha, passed away on Labor Day, Monday September 6, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 13, 1936 in Manitowoc, son of the late Ernest and Verna (Sohrweide) Hornes. Ralph proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Era. On February 16, 1957 in New London he married Rose Marie Koentopp, the union was blessed with 3 sons and 53 years. Ralph worked as a coal and ash man for Menasha Utilities for many years. He loved fishing; enjoyed hunting, watching football and other sports, and especially enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildrens sporting events. Ralph also enjoyed watching black and white movies and television, socializing and working out at the YMCA. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Rose; his sons: Brant (Kari), Menasha, Blaine (Jean) Neenah, Bruce (Susan), Sherwood; grandchildren: Breann, Chris, Erin (Fiance Chad Tousley), Blaine II, and Sondra Hornes; his brother, Ronald (Marie) Hornes; half-brother, Gary (Jan) Eckhart, New London; half-sister, Linda Menzel, Shiocton; brother-in-law: John Walbruck, New London; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Walbruck. A Memorial Service for Ralph will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at Menashas Westgor Funeral Home with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Full Military Honors will be conducted following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralphs name are greatly appreciated to the American Cancer Society or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
