Obituary
Borden, Doris M. Doris M. Borden, 94, formerly of Neenah, passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at Brewster Village. Doris was born October 3, 1915 in Spalding, MI, the daughter of Joseph and Leah (Mercier) Betters. She was united in marriage to William Borden on June 5, 1937 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Spalding. Doris was a loving wife, wonderful mother, devoted grandmother, a mean Scrabble player, and an accomplished seamstress. She was a committed member of St. Patrick Parish, Menasha, for over 70 years and served as parish secretary for 15 years. Survivors include three daughters: Janice (Tim) Menning, Burnsville, MN, Dianne (Gary) Roth, Neenah, and Lois (Bill) Coan, Hortonville; two sons: Stephen (Kim) Borden, Neenah and Terry Borden, Atlanta, GA, 25 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William Borden, two sons: William Borden, Jr. and Keith Borden, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Borden, and twelve brothers and sisters. The Funeral Mass for Doris will be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Visitation at the church will begin at 9:00 am and continue until the time of the service. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds are being established for Theda Care Hospice and St. Joseph Food Program. The family would like to thank all of Doris caregivers, especially those at Greenville Manor where she was at home for the last seven years. Westgor Funeral Home 205 W. I'm very sorry to hear about Grandma. I will always remember playing cards with her and Grandpa and having slush at the kitchen table while playing! Katie and Nicholas both have their Humpties (more than one for Nicholas!) and will always remember her for that. We love you Grandma-say hi to Mom and Dad for us!! I only just came across this obituary. Doris was such a sweet woman and yet with such a cute sense of humor. And she played a wicked game of cribbage and made the best Waldorf Salad ever. I spent many an enjoyable evening at her table.
