BABETTE OTTO

Babette (Hendricks) Otto passed into the arms of her Savior after a 13-plus year battle with lung cancer on Sunday, January 20, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born in Oshkosh, WI to Dorothy Harrison and Arthur Grundy, attended elementary school in Appleton, and was a graduate of Neenah High School. Babs worked for American Can, River Street plant for many years. She then moved to the Atlanta area in 1984 and married Al Otto. They then moved to Lakeland, FL for a bit before moving back to the Neenah/Menasha area in 1986. After returning to this area, she worked as a lab technician for Kimberly Clark, PPS for several years. Babs enjoyed life. She lit up any room she entered with her constant smile and laugh. She loved having a good and trucking around the country with Al. They would frequent antique and junk shops on their trips. She also liked most music, but especially the old country music. Her favorite entertainer was Willie Nelson. Babs loved the water and spent many hours with Al and friends on their pontoon boat on Partridge Lake in Fremont, and the Wolf River Chain. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, but especially her great-granddaughter Shelby Johnson. Babs is survived by her loving husband, Al Otto; her four children: Dean Hendricks, Neenah; David Henricks, Neenah; Denise Hendricks, Marion; Kellene Lane, Little Chute; and former special daughter-in-law, now daughter, Lynn (Tony) Schuette, Greenville; two step-children: Cheri Otto, Muskego; and Julie (Ryan) Behm, rural Neenah. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren: Shannon Baulch, Neenah; Jeremy (Kate) Jost, Green Bay; Jennie Jost, Neenah; Brian (Molly) Hendricks, Neenah; Amy (Nick) Johnson, Neenah; Heather Hendricks and Steven Hendricks, Neenah; Logan and Alyssa Behm, Neenah; Molly and Jeff Lane, Appleton; as well as three great-grandchildren: Shelby and Judah Johnson, Neenah; and Harper Leigh Jost, Green Bay and two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Dickie Hendricks; her beloved mother and stepfather: Dorothy and Merle Harrison; her father and stepmother: Arthur and Sally Grundy; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbera Bobbi and Allan Murton. A private family service will be held at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and place. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Babs name. The whole family would like to thank our friends and neighbors for all the help given to us during this past year, especially Gene and Dorothy Greening, Elaine Schiller, Lynne Schuette, Jim and Jeanette Klundt, and Norm and Millie Bodway. We would also like to thank Dr. Tim Goggins and all the folks at the Cancer Center at St. Elizabeth Hospital and all the folks at St. Paul Hospice Center in Kaukauna.
