JOHN SCHMIDT

John R. Schmidt, of Neenah, age 66, was surrounded by his family when the Angels came to take him home on Friday, January 25, 2013. He was born June 20, 1946 in Oshkosh, son of the late John C. and Freda (Schroeder) Schmidt. John served his country in the US Army, 4th Infantry Division, C Battalion, serving in Vietnam from September 1966 " September 1967. He married Linda LeMay on February 19, 1966 in Oshkosh. John was employed with Central Paper from 1964 to 1996. John then worked for Printed Tape comp. from 1997 till his retirement in 2011. John enjoyed hunting, gardening, spending time at The Forties cabin in Shawano, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also known as an all-around handyman who could fix anything. John was a member of Martin Luther Church of Neenah. Survivors include his wife, Linda; two daughters: Carrie (Tim) Falck, Deanna (John) Martin; five grandchildren: Amanda, Nick and Tanner Falck, Bryar and Bryanna Martin; two great-grandchildren: MacKenzie and Ambrielle; brothers and sisters-in-law: Harry LeMay, Oshkosh, Gary (Vickie) LeMay, Townsend, Jeff (Kathy) LeMay, Oshkosh, Delores Clark, Oshkosh, Darlene LeMay, Oshkosh, Carol Spiegelberg, Oshkosh; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Joseph C. and Virginia LeMay; brothers-in-law, Joseph E. LeMay, Bill LeMay, Charles Clark, Milton Case and Larry Spiegelberg; and sisters-in-law: Patty Kevill, Joyce LeMay and Virginia Case. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Martin Luther Church, 436 S. Lake Street, Neenah, with The Rev. Jason Oakland officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday AT THE CHURCH, from 4:00-7:00 PM, and again on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in his name. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites performed by the US Army and the Neenah-Menasha Veterans Honor Guard. The family would like to thank the Dr.s of the Appleton VA Clinic, the Oncologists and Hematologists at the Milwaukee VA Hospital, and the 5th floor nurses at Theda Clark Medical Center, and Theda Care Hospice for all their care.
