BERTON SCHROEDER

Berton R. Schroeder, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 with his family at his side. Bert was born June 28, 1928 in the town of Clayton; son of the late Harvey and Sadie (Breaker) Schroeder. He worked on the family farm as well as at his familys Cold Storage Locker Plant and grocery store in Larson until 1950. Bert was best known for his knowledge of cars and was a Mechanic and Service Manager for the Oldsmobile car dealership in Neenah from 1953 until 1980. After that, he worked in maintenance at Lindquist Machine in Neenah until his retirement. After his retirement, Bert began to focus on his lifelong passion " his love of cars. He enjoyed collecting and restoring older cars as well as showing them at various car shows or driving them around with the car club; his pride was his 1964 Studebaker. He also enjoyed the time he spent at his timeshare in Ft. Myers, Florida. Bert is survived by his children: Bret, Menasha, Darin (Terri), Menasha, Sadie, Menasha; and granddaughters: Brooke and Morgan. He is also survived by his brothers: Arlen (Diane), Neenah, Gerald, (Jeanette), Neenah, Glen (Jennifer), Waupaca; sister-in-law, Berdine, Neenah; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bert was preceded in death by his brothers: Donald and Russel and sister, Marjorie. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009, 6:30 PM, at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with Mrs. Joan Spielbauer officiating. The visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until the hour of service. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Parkview Health Center for the love and care given to Bert over the past 6 ½ years. A special heartfelt thanks to Barb and Sue for the special care and attention they always gave to him.
