RAYMOND WILHELMS

R.P. Wilhelms, Neenah, age 92, passed away comfortably on the morning of Thursday, February 4, 2010 at his home. Son of the late Paul and Minna (Neitzel) Wilhelms, he was born in Fond du Lac on November 10, 1917. After graduating from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1936, he was a sheet metal worker at Damrow Brothers in Fond du Lac. R.P. served in the Army Air Corps from 1942"1945, rising to the rank of Technical Sergeant as the chief line inspector at the air gunnery training facility in Harlingen, Texas. R.P. became the first of his family to receive a four-year college degree, graduating in 1949 from the University of Wisconsin " Madison as a mechanical engineer. While in Madison, he met his wife, Marian June Morse. They married in 1951 in Fond du Lac and moved to the Chicago suburbs where R.P. worked as a sales representative for Combustion Engineering. Their last move was to Neenah where he worked for Kimberly-Clark as a utilities engineer until his retirement in 1982. Relatives, friends, neighbors, his sons schools, and church were the frequent beneficiaries of his skill in woodworking. Enjoying the family cottage in Mt. Morris, WI, and woodworking were his chief pastimes, as well as cheering on the Badgers and Packers football teams. Survivors include two sons: David (Carol Ryczek) Wilhelms, Shawano, Dan (Linda) Wilhelms, Milwaukee; a grandson, Chris of Madison; three granddaughters: Lucy, Lidija and Lilly, all of Milwaukee; two nephews: Ron Maurice, Greenville, Bob Maurice, Fond du Lac; and a niece, Kathleen Kibler, Fond du Lac. There are also numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1228 S. Park Ave, Neenah, with Rev. Ronald Meier officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the hour of service. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
