CARLENE MEYER

On March 16, 2013 Carlene Mack Meyer was called home by her Lord where she could join the love of her life, John Meyer. Carlene was born in Menasha, the third daughter of Carl and Emma (Pettack) Mack. She was a 1940 graduate of Menasha High School and enjoyed working on her class reunions. She married John Meyer on June 5, 1943 and was married for 54 happy years until John died on August 9, 1997. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since she was twelve years old. She loved to play tennis and go fishing. Also was a Packer Fan, belonged to the Polish Falcons Auxiliary, played dart ball in a senior league in Menasha. She was captain of her bowling team for many years and was a volunteer at the Red Cross as well as ushering at her church. She was a member of the Theda Clark Auxiliary for many years, stationed at the front lobby desk. She sang in the choir at St. Pauls church as a student and in the senior choir until her marriage. She and John enjoyed travelling and fishing in their boat. John taught her how to drive when she was 15 years old and later, when he could not drive any longer he used to chide her for driving too fast. Said 75 plus was too much. Her reply always was, well you are the one who showed me how. For many years they both delivered Meals on Wheels and enjoyed visiting with the many people they served. She belonged to the St. Patricks bridge marathon as well as the University Women Marathon. She also enjoyed playing golf. She was the office manager for many years working at the Chemical Supply Co, later became the Ashland Chemical Company, Menasha. She retired after 25 years of service there. Carlene is survived by her son Stanley (Caryl) Meyer of Neenah, Wisconsin, grandson John (Wendy) Meyer of Milton, Wisconsin and great grandchildren Scott and Rose, grand daughter Amy (Joseph) Shafer of Medina, Wisconsin and great grandson Adam. She is also survived by Sister-in-law Edythe (Don) Van Rossum of Neenah, special cousin Mary Jane Thompson of Brownsville, Texas and nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her dear husband John, her son Jeffrey, her sisters Virginia Thompson and Patricia Ross and too many friends. The funeral service for Carlene will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah with Rev. Paul L. Holte officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 19 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service directly at the church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carlenes name may be made to the food pantry at St. Paul Lutheran Church or to Hospice.
