Obituary
DeVon E. Smith, age 83, of Neenah passed away on Wednesday evening, March 27, 2013 at Appleton Health Care Center. He was born on October 16, 1929 in Neenah, son of the late Douglas and Marian (Laurin) Smith. On October 7, 1950 he married Audrey A. Konow. The marriage was blessed with four children and 61 years before Audrey passed away on July 22, 2012. DeVon was employed for 40 years at Kimberly Clark and also worked for a time for Walters Armored Car Service. He was an avid moose and deer hunter, a wood carver and member of the Wisconsin Wood Chippers. DeVon was also a die-hard Packers fan, and loved dirt track racing in his car 2B. He and Audrey were long-time members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Neenah. He will be sadly missed by his two daughters: Dawn (Tom) Schedgick, Tina Smith; two sons: Les Smith, Mark (Mary) Smith; thirteen grandchildren: Becky (Jason) Sonnleitner, Troy (Lisa) Smith, Vicki (Todd) Schmidt, Adam Smith, Amanda Smith, Nicole Willes, Amber (Anthony) Burke, Kayla Osmond, Nicole Campbell, Kurt Smith, Laura (Tim) Stuebs, Jason Schakel, Anthony (Kimberly) Schakel; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers: Garland (Edna) Smith, Perry (Bim) Smith; sisters: Beverly Smith, Donna (Harley) Kopitzke. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Audrey, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald (Bernice) Smith, and sister, Marvel (David) Buksyk. The Funeral Service for DeVon will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church (809 S. Commercial Street) with Rev. Catherine A.K. Mode officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in DeVons name may be given to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation. The family would like to thank the staffs of Appleton Health Care Center and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for all of your care, compassion, and support.
