AUDREY THUMS

Audrey Thums, 85, of Neenah, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Theda Clark Medical Center. Audrey was born August 1, 1927, in Neenah, the daughter of the late William and Hattie (Getlinger) Eckstein. She was a graduate of Neenah High School and was united in marriage to Alvin L. Thums on September 20, 1947, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Neenah. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2009. Audrey worked for the former P.H. Glatfelter Co. (Bergstrom Division) for 12 years. Audrey and Alvin were members of St. Pauls Lutheran Church for many years. Audrey was an active member of their Ladies Circle. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as her gardening, sewing, fishing, snowmobiling, bowling, traveling, and recently, card playing. The Thums family lived in Neenah most of their lives, then chose to retire on Lake Poygan, near Fremont. After Alvins death, Audrey moved back to Neenah and took up residence in the Highlands at Mahler Park. Survivors include her son, Aaron (Peggy) Thums, Oshkosh; her daughters: Armella (Roger) Dana, Iowa, and Anita (Wayne) Crary, Texas; her grandchildren: Jennifer (Will) Landry, Joseph (DeLane) Dana, Kallina (Clint) Dunkle, Michelle Crary, and Chad (Jan) Stanelle; great-grandchildren: Matthew, Abigail, Chloe, and Wesley; her sister, Ardys (James) Seelow; and her brother, Arden (Dorothy) Eckstein. Audrey was preceded in death by her brother, Arlin, and sister-in-law, Aimee. The funeral service for Audrey will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012, 4:00 p.m., at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul L. Holte officiating. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home until the hour of the service. Interment will be in Clayton Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established in her honor. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to Audreys awesome friends and neighbors at the Highlands. Audrey cherished the kindness and caring that they showed her each and every day.
