MARJORIE NELSON

Marjorie V. Nelson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Aspire Senior Living, Kimberly, WI. Marge was born August 16, 1920 to Thomas and Marie Thomson, River Falls, WI. She earned her BS degree at River Falls Teachers College and it was there that she met Herbert Carl Nelson. They married March of 1944 in Cantonsville, MD, while Herb was serving in the Navy. She and Herb were married for 70 happy years. Marge was employed by the Neenah Joint School District for seventeen years and served as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. She was a long-time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Neenah. Over the years she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Theda Clark hospital, was a member of Chapter BT, PEO Sisterhood, and the Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association. Marge loved her family and friends and over the years enjoyed reading, playing bridge, travel, needlework, time spent in Arizona and with her special friend and companion, her cat Sophie.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Edward) Hooper, Neenah, son John (Audrey) Nelson, Longmont, CO, and son Gerald (Judy) Nelson, Edgar, WI. She was the proud grandparent of eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Marge's family would like to thank friends who supported Marge and her family during the last months of her life as well as the caring staff of Theda Care Hospice and Aspire Memory Care. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are appreciated to Theda Care Hospice, Neenah Animal Shelter and the Chronic Disease Fund, which helped Marge during her long struggle with Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration.

Mom – you are lovingly remembered and greatly missed. We know you are in a better place. Love to you always. Your family.
