Obituary

Keith Charles Pohlman passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a short battle with Guillain-Barre` Syndrome on January 12, 2015. Keith was born September 19, 1944, in Black Creek, WI, son of the late Orin and Elna (Krueger) Pohlman. He was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church, Appleton and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clayton. He attended Lonely Oaks School and was a member of the first graduating class from Clayton Elementary School, Neenah. He graduated from Neenah High School in 1962. After graduation, he served his country in the Army and was stationed in Japan. On return from service, he married an Army buddy's sister and served as a police officer in Combined, Lock, WI. Keith's second marriage was on June 13, 1974, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kaukauna, WI to Juley Hoover who preceded him in death on October 3, 2014. Keith and Juley ventured to Tempe, AZ in 1976 where Keith worked for Salt River Project for 30 years. Shortly after retiring, they moved back to Wisconsin where he was a proud member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where he had recently completed the wiring for the Christmas light show. Keith gave much of his time and himself; he had donated over 352 pints of blood and he helped with Habitat for Humanity. Keith was always willing to help with any project and spent many hours at St. Mark's tinkering on whatever needed to be fixed. He was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty. He was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren's accomplishments, activities, and spent much time volunteering for those as well. In his spare time, he was an avid rail fan and enjoyed working on extensive genealogy research for his family as well as others. Keith is survived by his brother, Don (Maxine) Pohlman; children Amy (James) Rowley, Apex, NC; Trisha (Ritchie) Zander, Neenah, WI; Dr. Brian Thomas (Suvi), Fuquay-Varina, NC; Brad Funk, Appleton, WI; Craig Pohlman, Tempe, AZ; grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Zander, Brandon and Elise Rowley; his little buddy, Mason Jones; and as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Keith is preceded in death by his sister, Judy Pohlman. A funeral service for Keith will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 16, 2015, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 140 S. Green Bay Rd, Neenah with Pastor Tabitha Gallatin officiating. Visitation will be held at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again directly at church on Friday 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Military rites will follow performed by the Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard and the US Army. Committal service and interment will be for the family in the spring at New Hope-Pine Creek Lutheran Cemetery, E6698 County Highway V, Ridgeland, WI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Keith's family want to thank the entire ICU staff at Theda Clark for the exceptional care provided during his hospital stay.
