ROGER RAYMOND

Roger D. Raymond, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Neenah, WI on October 18th, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.  Roger was born on May 17th, 1949 in Waupaca, WI son of the late Roger and Leona (Rasmussen) Raymond.  He was one of three children.  Roger served in the United States Army from May 1969 to May 1971 and was a proud Vietnam Veteran.  He was awarded the Purple Heart and numerous other service medals.  Roger was employed at Georgia Pacific for 43 years and retired as a journeyman pipe fitter in 2012.  From an early age Roger had a great passion for the outdoors.  He was a dedicated outdoorsman.  He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and did it just about every chance he had.  Roger was a gifted photographer and birdwatcher.   He also enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, as well as spending time and traveling with his special friend and companion, Sandy.

Roger is survived by his Love, Sandy Wahamaki of Neenah, WI.  He is also survived by his two children, Jared Raymond (sp. friend Amber Schultz) of Neenah and Jillian Raymond (fiancé Brett Schroeder) of Appleton, WI; three grandchildren: Caitlin Raymond, Elizabeth Raymond and Sawyer Schroeder; one sibling: Sandy (Gerry) Schulz and various nieces and nephews; Sandy's family: Amy (Brian) Dresen, Waunakee; Kristen Wahamaki, De Pere; Logan and Carissa Dresen.  Roger was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Leona Raymond, as well as his sister Shirley Raymond.

A brief Memorial Service for Roger will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. Tabitha Gallatin officiating.  Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up to purchase and lay an honorary stone at The Highground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville, WI, a city where he enjoyed spending time nearly his entire life.
