MARGARET STROHMEYER

March 30, 1924 - April 29, 2024

Obituary

Margaret M. Strohmeyer, age 100, died peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born March 30, 1924.

Margaret married George W. Strohmeyer on June 8, 1946, at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville, WI.

Marge and George bought 40 acres on Winchester Road in Neenah in 1948 which became known as “The Farm” and was where they raised their 5 children.

Marge was soft-spoken and self-less, always worried about the other person.  Many neighborhood children, “town kids” and family found refuge and love at Marge's over-sized kitchen table.  She was a hard worker and always had her “list”.  Some of the many things on her “list” were her vegetable and flower gardens, flocks of chickens, ducks and of course the geese that followed her around the yard.  She loved driving the tractor at baling time and then into the kitchen to prepare the meal for the “baling crew”.

She is survived by her five children: George (Cathryn) Strohmeyer, Beverly Strohmeyer, Randall (Lynette) Strohmeyer, Jeffrey (Natalie) Strohmeyer and Terry (Barbara) Strohmeyer; grandchildren: Amy (Tom) Sokoloski, Mike (Heidi) Strohmeyer, Keith (Debra) Strohmeyer, Cami (Guy) Gardner, Carrie (Jeremy) Volp, Gwen (Tyler) Fuhrman, Eric Strohmeyer (Mary Ferguson), Rachel Strohmeyer and her fiancé Bryce Retzer, Alex Strohmeyer and Makayla Strohmeyer; great-grandchildren: Steven (Jessica Kutzleb) Searles, Michael, Samuel, Jack and Benjamin Strohmeyer, Amanda and Michael Reiter, Bo, Neela and Theo Gardner, Jaci and Amari Volp, Grady, Gus, Gibson and Grant Fuhrman; and  a great-great grandson, Grayson Searles.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, George Strohmeyer; grandson, Jacob Strohmeyer; four sisters: Florence, Leila, Ruth and Arlene.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, May 6, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St, Neenah, with Rev. Amy Engebose officiating. Visitation at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

What a wonderful lady. I will always remember you and George as my great neighbors growing up and friends of my parents through the years. A special icon is now in heaven.

Rich and I have known Marge well over half of her life. She cared for all she met. Years ago when Rich was dealing with cancer, she came to our door with a some delicious mixed nuts and expressed her caring thoughts. That kind gesture has always been in my mind. At her 100th birthday party, I reminded her of that and with her gentle smile and soft voice, she said "Oh I don't even remember that". That's who she was, always going out of her way to care for others. If only this world had more people like Marge in it. We will miss you always especially when driving by "The Farm".
