ARMIN SCHROEDER

Armin F. Schroeder (94) died on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at The Heritage where he and Eddie had lived since Feb of 2008. Armin was born on August 18, 1921 in Suamico, WI, to Lillian C. (Schunk) and Arthur K. Schroeder. He grew up in Brillion, WI. Banking was in his blood because as a youth, he worked for his father who was CEO of Calumet County Bank. After high school, Armin attended Lawrence University. He then entered the US Army. Following his discharge, he pursued several American Banking classes as well as being a graduate of the UW School of Banking. Armin began his career working for Appleton State Bank before moving to Neenah. He continued his banking career until his retirement in 1985 from the former National Manufacturers Bank of Neenah, now known as J.P. Morgan-Chase. He wore many hats during his banking career. Starting as a teller, he progressed to head teller and assistant cashier, he headed the bank's "special services" division and specialized in investments. In 1960, he was promoted to Vice President of operations, personnel and investments and later became vice president and cashier of the bank as well as serving as secretary to the Board of Directors. Armin was very involved with the First Presbyterian Church in Neenah, treasurer of the VNA for 19 years, Kiwanis, as well as many other community organizations. In retirement, he and Eddie moved to the country where they owned a 40 acre tree farm. Armin was happiest when working amongst the trees and enjoying nature. He always had a real sense of peace when outdoors. He was truly a "gentleman" farmer! He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Edwerda (Able); daughter Judith L. (Jack C.) Rusch, LaCrosse, WI.; two grandchildren, Matthew (Wendi) Rusch of Custer, SD., Erika (Wade) Olson of Holmen, WI and seven great grandchildren. A celebration of Armin's life will be held in Peabody Hall on the Heritage campus at a later date. Interment will be in the Columbarium at the First Presbyterian Church of Neenah. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Armin's memory can be made to the charity of your choice, Theda Care Hospice or the Neenah VNA. A heartfelt thank you to all of Armin's wonderful caregivers at the Heritage over the past several years as well as the Theda Care Hospice staff, nurses and volunteers. He appreciated and loved all of you!! Armin will always be remembered for his gentlemanly ways. We'll miss you, Dad!
