BERNICE NEUBAUER

Bernice M. Neubauer, Menasha, was called to her Heavenly home into the arms of Jesus on December 23, 2014 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home at the age of 97. Bernice was born on August 12, 1917 in Oshkosh, WI, the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Swintosky) Tadych. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1936. On May 6, 1939, Bernice was united in marriage to Leland Neubauer who preceded her in death September 7, 1990 after 51 years of marriage. Bernice lived many years in the Neenah-Menasha area. She was one of the first group of school crossing guards in Menasha and also a retiree of Zwicker Knitting Mills in Appleton. She was a faithful member of St. John's Church, Menasha, and a longtime member of St. John's Rosary Society. Bernice loved to cook, sew and do different crafts such as refrigerator magnets, Christmas ornaments and her specialty cloth-covered padded hangers. After her retirement, she enjoyed playing bingo and participating in events at the Neenah-Menasha Senior Center. In the years prior to her illness, Bernice was an avid Chicago Cub fan. She enjoyed going to games and watching the Cubs on television. Survivors include her daughter, Pat Walbrun of Neenah; and a son, Bill (Barbara) Neubauer of Appleton. She is further survived by five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren: Debbie (Steve) Wolf of Darboy and their children, Tyler and Heather; Steve (Sue) Walbrun of Darboy and their children, Amanda and Bryce; Holly Neubauer of Appleton, Jeff (Sarah) Neubauer of Appleton and their children, Morgan, Cameron and Payton; Jason (Kari) Neubauer of Appleton and their children, Josephine, Victoria and Allena; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Walbrun; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Margaret (Frank) Boguski of Oshkosh; Sylvia (John) Brown of Brandon; Regina (Frank) Jankowski of Neenah; Christine (Carl) Eagen of Porter, IN; and one brother and sister-in-law, Stanley (Marion) Tadych of Oshkosh. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church in Menasha with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Friends may call directly at church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home for their thoughtful care and support the last two years of mother's life. Also, a thank you to Villa St. Clare Assisted Living of Neenah and Gardens of Fountain Way in Menasha who cared for mom before her dementia required around the clock nursing care. "Mom, your name finally came to the top of God's Heavenly list. We know that you have been praying for this for many years. Although we will miss you, we are happy that your prayers have finally been answered and you are spending Christmas with God. Until we meet again- we love you." Pat and Bill and our families.
