ROBERT GARTZKE

Robert C. "Bob" Gartzke, of Appleton, age 87, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born February 12, 1928 in Menasha, son of the late Emil and Mary (Garbright) Gartzke. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Lynn Perrine on October 16, 1954. Bob retired from Kimberly-Clark, Lakeview Mill, after 42 years of employment. He loved the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob enjoyed Old Fashioned's with his family, playing cribbage and walking outdoors. Bob was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Appleton. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; four children: Sue Van Deurzen and her fiancé, Pete Stier, David (Diane) Gartzke, Robin (Mike) Pingel, Mike (Sherri) Gartzke; six grandchildren: Scott (Dawn) Van Deurzen, Sarah (Kurt) Hintz, Steve Van Deurzen, Nickolas Pingel, Jeremy and Rachel Gartzke; three great-grandchildren: Brayden Van Deurzen, Jack and Kate Hintz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home, with Rev. Kurt Hoffman officiating. The visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. Military Rites will follow the service with the Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for the Wounded Warrior Project. The family would like to thank the 3rd Floor nursing staff at AMC for their care, compassion and support.
