WALLACE PRAHL

Wallace "Wally" M. Prahl, age 92 of Neenah, passed away peacefully early Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Mathews of Irish Road. He was born one of twelve children on February 12, 1923 in Tigerton, WI to the late John and Bertha (Krasin) Prahl. In 1938 he was confirmed at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Clintonville. On August 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Juanita M. Thompson at the Congregational Church, also in Clintonville. Currently, he is a member of Neenah's First United Methodist Church. Wally was a very proud veteran, having been drafted into the U.S. Army on January 12, 1943, serving in the Medical Corp. He served overseas in England, building new places for people to stay, or repairing damage done by German bombings. He was honorably discharged and returned home at the age of 22. He has been a longtime member of the Neenah American Legion. After his time in the military, Wally began working at Kimberly-Clark, where he retired from in 1984 after over 35 years. He was proud to have worked on the same diaper machine for many of those years, having been on the start-up crew, and also seeing that machine retire itself. Wally and Juanita loved to travel. They took trips to England to visit the friends Wally had made during World War II, and also traveled all over the United States and Canada. They also enjoyed cruises around Hawaii, the Caribbean, and South America. Wally loved woodworking and always had projects going from miniature airplanes, to furniture, to his 36 foot houseboat, the "Northland Queen." Wally will be missed by his wife of 60 years, Juanita; his special brother, Donald Prahl; the closest thing he had to grandchildren: Fiona and Ian Schimke; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Harvey and Edward; and by his sisters: Helen, Matilda, Luella, Eleanor, Viola, Inez, Norma, and Dorothy. The funeral service for Wally will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty Ave., Neenah, Rev. Mark Geisthardt and Rev. Tony Fuller officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
