SHIRLEY PLIER

Shirley L. Plier, of Neenah, age 76, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. She was born June 17, 1938 in Wayside, WI, daughter of the late Aaron and Edna (Radichel) Radandt. Shirley graduated from Brillion High School in 1956. She married James Plier on February 22, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion. Shirley worked as a bookkeeper with the Neenah School District and retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed socializing with her beloved Card Club of 55 years which included Carol, Sharon and Barb. Shirley loved her trips to the casino and visiting friends and relatives. She was affectionately known at the "Mitten Lady", crafting thousands of mittens for her family, friends and those in need. Shirley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Darting Needle Quilting Club. Quilting was a passion of hers with many loved ones receiving the gift of a quilt to commemorate special occasions. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members which include her husband, Jim; four children: Scot Plier, Lisa (Randy) Vohen, Todd (Ann) Plier, Chris (Dawn) Plier; 11 grandchildren: Ryan, Aaron, Kyra, Tiffany, Lindsay, Matthew, Jane, Katie, Michelle, Johnathan and Steven; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Mary (Sherm) Jansen, Liz (Mike) Kuffel; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Lance; a grandson, Jacob; a sister, Germaine Rusch; a brother, Orville Radandt; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Kay Plier. The funeral service will be held at Noon on Monday, June 8, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St., Neenah, with The Rev. Paul L. Holte officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. A private interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in her name.
