KENNETH NEWBY

Kenneth G. Newby MD, age 83, of Neenah went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 22, 2015, after a brief stay at Bridgewood Nursing and Rehab. He was born on June 22, 1931, in Streator, Illinois, son of the late George and Susan (Sedory) Newby. Ken graduated high school from Luther Institute of Chicago, then attended Valparaiso University, where he earned his B.A. and B.S. degrees. He went on to the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, where he earned his medical degree. He served his internship at Illinois Central Hospital and his residency at University of Minnesota Hospital. He practiced ophthalmology locally for many years with Nicolet/LaSalle Clinic and at Theda Clark Hospital. Ken was also proud to serve his country with the U.S. Army. On July 28, 1956, he married Dione L. Lawson in Chicago. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters and 58 wonderful years. Ken loved fishing and time spent at the family cottage near Wausaukee. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Dione; daughters: Cynthia K. (David) Daluga, Libertyville, IL; Gail M. (Rev. Bill) Beckmann, St. Charles, IL; Ruth A. (Tom) Paquin, Green Bay; grandchildren: Kenneth and Laura Zillman; Emily, Adam, Jason, Peter, and Scott Daluga; his sister, Carol A. (Rev. Kenneth) Hansen, Round Lake Beach, IL. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was welcomed into heaven by his parents. A memorial service for Ken will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church (1228 South Park Ave., Neenah) with Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's name may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.
