LORETTA OMACHINSKI

Loretta (Age 91) died peacefully on Monday morning July 27, 2015. She was born October 2, 1923 in Lily, Wisconsin to Linda Louise (McIntosh) and Benjamin Albert Gilhardt Jr. Following graduation from Antigo High School, she moved from Antigo to Appleton where she took her first job as a housekeeper for a local doctor and then worked for Kimberly Clark Corporation. She married James G. Omachinski on November 9, 1946 at St. John's Catholic Church, Menasha and moved to Menasha where they raised their family. She worked for over twenty years for the Menasha School system hot lunch program at Clovis Grove Elementary School until her retirement. She was an active, life-long member of the Democratic Party and volunteered with election polling in Menasha and Winnebago County. She was an active member of the Menasha Ladies Elks Club, and long-time member of St. John's Church, Menasha. She loved vegetable gardening, playing bingo, playing cards, and shaking dice with her friends and loved going to Las Vegas with her husband or going to Oneida Casino with her two close friends Anna Mae and Sharon. She had opportunities to travel with her husband Jim, for NAPUS and other Postmaster conferences throughout the United States. Survivors include her sons: David (Carla) Omachinski (Oshkosh) and Greg (Cheryl) Omachinski (Menasha), six grandchildren: David Kohanski Jr. (Milwaukee), William Kohanski (Milwaukee), Kim Omachinski (Milwaukee), Scott Omachinski (Palatine, IL), Autumn (DJ) Farrell (Appleton)and Aubree Omachinski (fiance' Nick Nelsen) (Menominee Falls); and four great grandchildren: Kelly Kohanski (mother Nicole), Justin and Joseph Kohanski (mother Keira) and Alex Farrell. She is further survived by her brother: Darrell (Judy) Gilhardt,(Racine) her sisters: Rosemary (Gilhardt) Derrenne and Janice (Gilhardt) (Lyle) Geiger, and her half-brother and sisters: Fred (Judy) Oesterreich Jr. (Virginia), Connie (Oesterreich) Arrowood, Susan (Oesterreich) (Dave) Steger (all from Antigo) as well as many nieces and nephews. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Fredrick (Fritz) Oesterreich Sr.; her grandparents: Vesta Catherine (Spencer) and John D. McIntosh; her great-grandparents Margaret (Hobbs) and George Spencer; her husband James (2010), and two daughters: Katherine Ann Omachinski (1950) and Christine Mary Kohanski (1998); brothers: James Gilhardt, William Gilhardt and Stuart Gilhardt, a sister-in-law Delphus Gilhardt; and brothers-in-law Frank Derrenne and Pete Arrowood. Per Loretta's wishes, a private family funeral was held at St. John's Catholic Church, Menasha on Saturday, August 1, 2015, with burial at St. John's Cemetery.
