GLORIA TOWNSEND

Gloria Ann Townsend (nee Tunks), age 76, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord, surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 30 at home. The daughter of Edwin and Shirley (Smith) Tunks, she was born on April 22, 1939 in Oshkosh, WI. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1956. Gloria also attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In addition to staying home to raise her three sons, she worked for Oshkosh Trunks and Luggage, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and Kimberly-Clark. She attended Plymouth Congregational Church in Oshkosh and, later, Calvary Bible Church in Neenah. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf, handcrafts, and gardening. Gloria was married to Bruce Townsend, of Oshkosh, WI in 1965. She is survived by Bruce and their three children: Douglas (Laura) and their children: Sarah, Cassie, Zachary, Tyler, and Andrew of Kewaunee, WI; Kevin (Tamara) and their children: Lacey and Linnea of Warrenville, IL; and Paul of Gladstone, MO. She is further survived by two brothers, Wesley and Ronald; a sister-in-law, Andrea Townsend; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Everett and Virginia Townsend; a brother, Russell; an infant sister, Janice; a brother-in-law, Brian Townsend; and two sisters-in-law, Marian Tunks and Judy Tunks. The Funeral Service for Gloria will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Calvary Bible Church, 1450 Oakridge Rd., Neenah, Rev. Danny Leavins officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fox Valley Christian Academy in care of Calvary Bible Church. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Home Instead and ThedaCare Hospice for the excellent care they provided for Gloria over the past five months.
