JAMES REILAND

James "Jim" Reiland, age 83, of Neenah passed away on September 10th after a brief illness. Jim was born on February 6, 1932 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Alvin C. Reiland and Alice (Jerzak) Reiland. He was the devoted husband of Joyce Voss for 57 years. He was the loving father of Jane Reiland (Vince LiCata) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Julie Kuykendall (Millard) of Boerne, Texas and Jill Hepburn (Mal) of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Jim, was also the proud Grandfather of Tony LiCata, Sam Kuykendall, Leigh Kuykendall and Jamie Hepburn and the fond big brother of Mary Mallek, of Junction City, Wisconsin. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers. Jim was quite proud of his three daughters, each an accomplished professional in her own right, who all grew to share his sense of responsibility and empathy for those in need. In 2009 Jim was honored, along with Congressman Jerry Kletzka, by the Wisconsin Council of Senior Citizens at their annual Power Luncheon. He was lauded as "a lifelong advocate for Seniors". Jim had a booming voice and a big heart and was well regarded in his hometown of Menasha. He was a community advocate and over the years served on the boards of the Fox Valley United Way, the Menasha Education Fund, the Wisconsin Labor History Society, the Menasha Joint School District, the Labor Credit Union, the Menasha Public Library, the YMCA Senior Program and was Chairman of the Fox Valley Girls Scout Council. There were many other community leadership roles but one of his favorites was his work for the At Risk program with the Menasha School District. A special thank you to the caregivers at Heartland Hospice and Manor Care whose kind and loving care were a comfort to all of us. A service will be held on Monday, September 21st at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 324 Nicolet Blvd, Menasha at 11:00 AM, with Fr. Jim Hablewitz and Mary Krueger, Pastoral Leader officiating.
