JOYCE SPEECH

Joyce (Janssen) Speech, age 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday October 7th. Joyce was born in Eldora, Iowa to parents Wayne and Alice Janssen on August 13, 1934. She is survived by husband John (Jack) Speech, two sons, Tom (Deb) daughters Liz and Cate, son Jeff (Kim) and children Chloe and Will. She is also survived by a twin sister, Joan Dubberke (Forrest) Ames, Iowa, a brother, John Janssen, of Ankeny, Iowa, and nephews Dennis and Matt and Niece Becky Dubberke. She is also survived by many dear cousins and friends. Family was Joyce's focus and she enjoyed being with her husband, children and grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Joyce graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Medical Records Administration and worked in the profession all her life, most recently at Theda Clark Hospital, and taught Medical Records at Fox Valley Tech and the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Joyce was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Neenah, where she participated as an Elder and Deacon, a member of the Bell Choir, and many committees over the years. She was a prodigious knitter, played clarinet in the Neenah Community Band for 47 years and was a member of the "Bookies" book Club, several bridge groups, and many social groups. If Joyce knew you, you were a friend 110%. When obligations were dropped, she was the one to pick them up. Simply, she was a caring and loving person. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 16th at First Presbyterian church, 200 Church St., Neenah, with The Rev. Richard J. Moore and The Rev. Paul Huxtable officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First Presbyterian Church or Samaritan Counseling Services or to the Community Foundation - Fox Valley Memory Project. The family is grateful to the Theda Clark Emergency Department staff, the ThedaStar flight crew, and the Froedtert Thoracic Surgery and CardioVascular Intensive Care Unit teams who provided such kind and professional care to Joyce and her family in their time of need.
