Obituary
Rogene Mary Hentz, nee Davidson, Bursack, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at Valley VNA Assisted Living. She was born at home on November 24, 1928 to John and Marie (Knueppel) Davidson in Waupaca, the first of their five children. She grew up on a farm during the Great Depression and graduated from Waupaca High School in 1947.
In 1949, Rogene graduated from the Waushara County Normal School with a teaching degree. In that same year she married James Bursack. Rogene taught school for one year before the birth of her first child in 1950. The couple had three more children over the next eight years. They moved from Wautoma to Menasha in 1957. In 1963, Rogene began working at the George Banta Company (now R.R. Donnelly) and remained there over 25 years until her retirement in the early 1990's. James preceded her in death in 1975. In 1982 she married Louis Hentz and moved to Oshkosh.
After retirement they spent summers at their home in Larsen near Lake Poygan and wintered in Riverview, Florida. Rogene enjoyed family, traveling, and golf. In the early years of her retirement she volunteered with the Literacy Council, the Christine Anne Center and the Telephone Pioneers.
Rogene is survived by her children: Linda Werner (Kim), Neenah; Judi Gottfried (Dan), Riverview, Florida; Denise Srebrow (Ben) Warrenton, Virginia; and Mike Bursack (Debbie) Menasha. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Gale Werner (Melissa); Zachary Werner; Jennifer Gottfried; Jared and Justin Bursack. Additional survivors include stepchildren: Cheryl Hentz (Tracy Edwards) and William Hentz (Kay), all of Oshkosh; step grandchildren: Jeremy Hentz (special friend Olivia Blanke); Jason Hentz, Alicia Hentz, Nicholas (Karina) Srebrow and Mathew Srebrow; and one brother Kenneth Davidson (Shirley), Weyauwega. Rogene was preceded in death by her first husband James Bursack; second husband Louis Hentz; two sisters, Pat Keen and Retta Obermeier; one brother, Neal Davidson and her parents, John and Marie Davidson.
The Funeral will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. The visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial gifts to Valley VNA Assisted Living or the Alzheimer's Association.
The family is grateful to the Valley VNA Assisted Living for the care the staff provided to Rogene over the five years she resided there and ThedaCare Hospice for their added help during these past months.
