VIRGIL COULTHURST

Virgil R. “Bud” “Papa” Coulthurst, age 91, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018. Thanks to the loving care of his children, he was able to remain in his home until his passing. He was born in Biron, Wood County, WI on January 24, 1927 to the late Ray and Alice (Langton) Coulthurst. He served his country in the Navy from November 1944 to November 1946, and got home in time to deer hunt with his father and brothers. Virgil married Kathryn Pollack (Fox River) on May 30, 1949 and enjoyed 44 wonderful years together before she passed away on September 12, 1993. They were blessed with three children, seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Virgil later married Vera Benetts on September 27, 1997. They spent 20 fun loving years together. Vera passed away December 2, 2017.

Virgil was employed by Kimberly Clark Corp for 39 years, retiring in 1987. After retiring, he drove for Enterprise Rent-A-Car for 20 years. Virgil also stock car raced in his younger years until 1958. He returned to racing as part of the pit crew for Jim and John Schmidt of Three Lakes, after his retirement. Virgil loved to travel the country in his motorhomes, hunting in Wyoming and WI, camping, Florida snowbirding, paragliding, fishing, boating, polka music, watching NASCAR racing and the Packers, trips to the casinos, and even traveled to Hawaii in his 80s, a cocktail or two, and eating at Oink's Restaurant, but he loved spending time with his family most. Virgil will be missed by all who knew him, but will be tremendously missed by his family who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his children: two sons, Gary (Carol), David (Teresa), a daughter, Linda Parker; seven grandchildren: Lisa (Troy) Pagel; Amy (Michael) Ritzke; Jessica (special friend John), David II (Michelle), Adam (Kalyn), Matt (Shannon) Coulthurst; Troy (Edana) Beck; 15 great-grandchildren: Logan and Tessa Pagel; Elias, Felicia, and Geneva Ritzke; David III (Katherine), Jacob (Josee), Ben (Brittany), Noah, Dylan, and Zander Coulthurst; Sarah Milburn; Taylor, Austin, and Brendan Beck; He is further survived by five step-children: Carol (Terry) Arnold: Roddy (Shirley) Benetts; Susan Boushley; Jennifer (Paul) Vannes; and Jessica (Matt) Lucas; as well as by brothers: Richard, William (Sue); and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and neighbors.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Kathryn; second wife, Vera; son-in-law, Sam Parker; great-grandson, Ajay Coulthurst; siblings: Margaret, Maurita Mae, Geraldine, Janice, and Donald.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at St. Gabriel Parish, 900 Geiger St., Neenah. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service. Virgil will join Kathryn in Resthaven Cemetery.
